{"id":400073,"date":"2020-05-20T17:07:16","date_gmt":"2020-05-20T15:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=400073"},"modified":"2020-05-20T17:07:16","modified_gmt":"2020-05-20T15:07:16","slug":"investors-are-piling-into-these-south-african-coins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/finance\/400073\/investors-are-piling-into-these-south-african-coins\/","title":{"rendered":"Investors are piling into these South African coins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Investors seeking a haven from the economic turmoil created by the coronavirus pandemic are snapping up platinum coins engraved with African wildlife.<\/p>\n<p>Over 2,000 coins featuring an elephant sold out to US and Asian investors after being minted in March, according to Prestige Bullion.<\/p>\n<p>More will be produced once South Africa\u2019s virus lockdown is lifted, said Richard Collocott, managing director of the Johannesburg-based company.<\/p>\n<p>Additional coins showing the rest of the so-called Big Five animals &#8212;
