{"id":407743,"date":"2020-06-15T10:25:58","date_gmt":"2020-06-15T08:25:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=407743"},"modified":"2020-06-16T17:58:49","modified_gmt":"2020-06-16T15:58:49","slug":"south-africa-is-looking-to-move-to-advanced-level-3-lockdown-heres-what-could-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/407743\/south-africa-is-looking-to-move-to-advanced-level-3-lockdown-heres-what-could-change\/","title":{"rendered":"South Africa is looking to move to &#8216;advanced level 3 lockdown&#8217; &#8211; here&#8217;s what could change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of Small Business and Development Khumbudzo Ntshavheni says that government is looking to open more sectors as part of a move to an &#8216;advanced level 3 lockdown&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in an interview with eNCA, Ntshavheni said that the move will be especially beneficial for small businesses such as hairdressers and restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlready, when the president announced the movement to level 3, he also announced what he called the advanced level 3, which will include sit-down restaurants and also the opening up of personal care services,\u201d Ntshavheni said.<\/p>\n<p>She added that her department has already completed the development protocols but that there were still some businesses that were seen as problematic\u00a0 &#8211; especially tattoo parlours.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The protocols are ready &#8211; including the rules for sit-down restaurants, hair salons, massage and other personal care services. We are ready to open it up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TyIczNVyvAg\" width=\"640\" height=\"430\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Minister in the presidency Jackson Mthembu says that government currently has no plans to review its relaxed lockdown rules and does not plan to reintroduce a countrywide ban on the sale of alcohol at this point in time.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeslive.co.za\/sunday-times\/news\/2020-06-14-lockdown-cabinet-wont-reimpose-stringent-rules-despite-coming-covid-19-spike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Sunday Times<\/strong><\/a>, Mthembu said that the cabinet had not discussed reversing the relaxation of regulations.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that a number of decisions will be made based on a presentation by government Medical Advisory Council to cabinet later this week.<\/p>\n<p>At its virtual <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thepresidency.gov.za\/cabinet-statements\/statement-virtual-cabinet-meeting-held-wednesday%2C-10-june-2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">meeting<\/a> <\/strong>held on Wednesday (10 June), Cabinet said that it received an updated report from the National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC).
