Vodacom was today recognised as a Best Performer company on the JSE\u2019s Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) Index.\u00a0 This accolade was achieved in the low environmental impact category, and Vodacom was the only ICT company to be awarded this status.<\/p>\n
Best Performers are companies that meet their relevant environmental threshold, their core indicators for societal, governance and related sustainability concerns as well all climate change indicators.<\/p>\n
The Index philosophy is founded on the principals of the triple bottom line, namely environmental, social and economic sustainability, underpinned by robust corporate governance.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are pleased to have been recognised by the JSE as a Best Performer and we are proud to be part of the SRI Index,\u201d says Portia Maurice, Vodacom\u2019s chief officer for corporate affairs.<\/p>\n

Apart from its commitment to reducing its carbon emissions by 5% every year, Vodacom recently achieved Africa\u2019s first 6-Star Green Star rating for the Vodafone Innovation Centre building in Midrand.<\/p>\n
The innovation centre, a carbon neutral building, will house a team of experts tasked with developing innovative technology to help reduce Vodafone\u2019s carbon footprint globally.<\/p>\n
