Ideco, a player in the application of biometric technology and a distributor of Morpho fingerprint biometric solutions, has released the MorphoIDent handheld mobile identification solution to help strengthen law enforcement.<\/p>\n
The solution is designed primarily for public safety agents and officers, and enables real-time identification based on Morpho\u2019s fingerprint recognition technology.<\/p>\n
The new product is fully certified by international regulators such as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Ideco said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat the developers have focused on is ease-of-use, accuracy and practicality,\u201d said Marius Coetzee, CEO at Ideco. \u201cThe device features an intuitive user interface and large colour screen that is clearly visible outdoors. This makes the technology and the solution ideal for the law enforcement environment, particularly from a local point of view.\u201d<\/p>\n
The solution is not only a mobile biometric device, but when integrated via Bluetooth can serve as a complete solution for on-the-spot, anywhere identification in the field.<\/p>\n
All data managed by MorphoIDent is transferred, via Bluetooth or USB, to a PC, smart-phone or PDA running the MorphoMobile application.<\/p>\n
This application, Ideco said, provides a secure connection to AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System), in addition to configuration and device management.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf one thinks about the need for safety and security in the country, and the value that instant, reliable identity verification offers law enforcement officials, then we can already see a demand in the market and immediate opportunity for application,\u201d Coetzee said.<\/p>\n
Ideco’s partnerships have included the digital conversion of paper-based fingerprint records for the South African Department of Home Affairs and the implementation of an automated criminal background checking service in partnership with SA Police.<\/p>\n
Until September 2011, Ideco was a 100% subsidiary of Alt-X listed\u00a0Muvoni Technology Group, however the latter sold its stake to the management team of Ideco Biometric Security Solutions.<\/p>\n
Muvoni in turn, is set to de-list from the local exchange after it received a firm intention from Horizon Investments & Financial Services to acquire all the issued shares in the IT group.<\/p>\n
