{"id":4139,"date":"2012-01-24T05:07:05","date_gmt":"2012-01-24T05:07:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=4139"},"modified":"2012-01-24T09:47:56","modified_gmt":"2012-01-24T09:47:56","slug":"elpida-in-talks-to-merge-with-micron-nanya-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/hardware\/4139\/elpida-in-talks-to-merge-with-micron-nanya-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Elpida in talks to merge with Micron, Nanya: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Japan&#8217;s <a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/374030-Elpida\" target=\"_blank\">Elpida<\/a> Memory &lt;6665.T&gt; is in talks to merge with U.S. firm <a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/386153-Micron-Technology\" target=\"_blank\">Micron Technology<\/a> &lt;MU.O&gt; and Taiwan&#8217;s Nanya Technology &lt;2408.TW&gt; , the Yomiuri newspaper reported on Tuesday, as the memory chip makers battle a weak market and well-funded South Korean rivals.<\/p>\n<p>Elpida, Japan&#8217;s last remaining player in the dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) market, also faces a debt repayment crunch in late March and early April that has stirred market worries and sent its shares tumbling to a record low earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Elpida said in a statement it would not comment on rumors and speculation.
