{"id":413997,"date":"2020-07-06T16:12:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-06T14:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=413997"},"modified":"2020-07-06T16:27:39","modified_gmt":"2020-07-06T14:27:39","slug":"new-lockdown-rules-for-the-reopening-of-cinemas-and-sport-in-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/413997\/new-lockdown-rules-for-the-reopening-of-cinemas-and-sport-in-south-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"New lockdown rules for the reopening of cinemas and sport in South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa has published a new directive outlining the new reopening rules for cinemas, sports, and libraries.<\/p>\n<p>The directive, which comes into immediate effect, forms part of the country&#8217;s &#8216;advanced level 3 lockdown&#8217; which saw a number of business sectors <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.za\/documents\/disaster-management-act-regulations-alert-level-3-during-coronavirus-covid-19-lockdown-28\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reopen<\/a><\/strong> to the public.<\/p>\n<p>While the amended level 3 directive sets out a number of core regulations which all business must follow, the latest directive from Mthethwa also introduces specific guidelines for the arts and sports sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The changes are outlined in more detail below.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Cinemas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The directive states that following places or premises are open to the public, subject to strict health protocols:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Libraries;<\/li>\n<li>Archives;<\/li>\n<li>Museums;<\/li>\n<li>Galleries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some of the key guidelines which these businesses must follow include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They must limit their operating hours as per the amended standard operation procedure posted on the website of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Places or premises must provide limited service and contact as far as possible between the staff and visitors so as to prevent any form of gathering;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Cinemas and theatres are limited to 50 people or less, excluding staff members;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Sufficient hand sanitisers must be made available;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Social distancing between customers and staff should be followed wherever possible.
