{"id":41472,"date":"2013-07-08T15:04:22","date_gmt":"2013-07-08T13:04:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=41472"},"modified":"2013-07-08T16:16:12","modified_gmt":"2013-07-08T14:16:12","slug":"top-20-global-mobile-operators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/41472\/top-20-global-mobile-operators\/","title":{"rendered":"Top 20 global mobile operators"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New data from the <a title=\"GSMA\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/5504-GSM-Association\">GSMA<\/a> has revealed the world&#8217;s top 20 mobile operators by connections and 12-month revenue.<\/p>\n<p>According to the GSM Association&#8217;s data, <a title=\"China Mobile\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/5963-China-Mobile\">China Mobile<\/a> has retained the top position in the world, with 726.31 million users (up 8% from 2012), and a haul of US$90.44 billion over 12 months.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Vodafone\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1662-Vodafone\">Vodafone<\/a>, <a title=\"America Movil\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/6036-America-Movil\">America Movil<\/a> and <a title=\"Telefonica\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/6032-Telefonica\">Telefonica<\/a> also remained unchanged in their listed positions (second, third and fourth, respectively) compared to last year &#8211; while <a title=\"China Unicom\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/5960-China-Unicom\">China Unicom<\/a> climbed two places to fifth.<\/p>\n<p>China Unicom grew its subscriber numbers by 16% over 12 months to 250.71 million connections, while boosting revenue 17% to US$21.03 billion.<\/p>\n<p>China Unicom and China Telecom were the only two operators in the ranking to post double-digit revenue growth, the GSMA noted.<\/p>\n<p>Orange was the biggest climber on the list, jumping four places to 8th position.
