{"id":415327,"date":"2020-07-10T19:37:27","date_gmt":"2020-07-10T17:37:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=415327"},"modified":"2020-07-10T19:37:27","modified_gmt":"2020-07-10T17:37:27","slug":"stage-2-load-shedding-will-also-hit-on-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/415327\/stage-2-load-shedding-will-also-hit-on-saturday\/","title":{"rendered":"Stage 2 load shedding will also hit on Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Power utility Eskom says that stage 2 load shedding will also be implemented on Saturday (11 July), starting from 09h00 and continuing to 22h00.<\/p>\n<p>The group said that, while it expects some generating units to return overnight, load shedding will need to continue to restore emergency reserves to better prepare for next week.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the much colder weather, electricity demand has increased significantly, it said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Three of six generation units contributing to earlier breakdowns have been successfully returned to service at the Tutuka, Arnot and Matimba power stations,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This has had the net effect of reducing plant breakdowns 2,350MW of capacity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The delayed return to service of a generation unit at the Devha power station has also contributed to the strained system.
