{"id":41536,"date":"2013-07-09T11:37:35","date_gmt":"2013-07-09T09:37:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=41536"},"modified":"2013-07-09T12:08:04","modified_gmt":"2013-07-09T10:08:04","slug":"top-companies-in-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/41536\/top-companies-in-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Top companies in the world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Fortune\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/7015-Fortune\">Fortune<\/a> has listed the top 500 companies in the world by revenue,\u00a0with <a title=\"Apple\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1648-Apple\">Apple<\/a> showing tremendous growth in the tech space.<\/p>\n<p>The Fortune Global 500 lists the largest companies across the world based on revenue and profits, and differs from the Fortune 500 which looks at companies operating out of the USA.<\/p>\n<p>Topping the list, and retaining its position from last year, is petroleum giant, <a title=\"Royal Dutch Shell\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/6332-Shell\">Royal Dutch Shell<\/a>, which brought in US$481.7 billion in revenue despite facing a tough time extending its operations.<\/p>\n<p>With the exception of Wal-Mart (2nd), Toyota (8th) and Volkswagen (9th) &#8211;
