President Jacob Zuma<\/a> has sacked Communications\u00a0Minister Dina Pule<\/a> as part of a cabinet reshuffle.<\/p>\n

Making an announcement relating to governance at a special media briefing at the Union Buildings this afternoon, Zuma announced that Dina Pule would be dropped, and Yunus Carrim<\/a> would be taking her place.<\/p>\n

Yunus Carrim was the former South African Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs.<\/p>\n

He holds a BA(Hons) and M.A. in Sociology from the University of Warwick (England) and an International Diploma in Journalism from Darlington College of Technology (England).<\/p>\n

Pule has been\u00a0embroiled in a number of scandals<\/a>\u00a0over the last year, including accusations of cronyism and maladministration.<\/p>\n

Pule was appointed to her position in October 2011, having served as\u00a0Deputy Minister of the Presidency for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation between 2010 and 2011. Between 2009 and 2010, Pule served as\u00a0Deputy Minister of Communications.<\/p>\n

Zuma said that Carrim will be sworn in as communications minister on 10 July 2013.<\/p>\n

    Carrim was previously the Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in the South African Government.<\/p>\n
