{"id":416103,"date":"2020-07-14T13:20:06","date_gmt":"2020-07-14T11:20:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=416103"},"modified":"2020-07-14T13:20:06","modified_gmt":"2020-07-14T11:20:06","slug":"amazon-launches-smart-shopping-trolley-that-knows-what-youre-buying","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/technology\/416103\/amazon-launches-smart-shopping-trolley-that-knows-what-youre-buying\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon launches smart shopping trolley that knows what you\u2019re buying"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>US tech giant Amazon has unveiled a trolley that uses sensors to detect the items you\u2019re adding when you go shopping.<\/p>\n<p>Called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/b?ie=UTF8&amp;node=21289116011\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amazon Dash Cart<\/a>, the e-commerce firm said: &#8220;It\u2019s a new smart shopping cart that makes a quick grocery trip even quicker by allowing you to skip the checkout line.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The cart uses a combination of computer vision algorithms and sensor fusion to identify items you put in the cart.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When you exit through the store\u2019s Amazon Dash Cart lane, sensors automatically identify the cart, and your payment is processed using the credit card on your Amazon account.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to Amazon, the cart has some convenient features for grocery shopping, including a screen at the top where you can access your Alexa Shopping List to check items o\ufb00 and view your subtotal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In addition, every cart is equipped with a coupon scanner where you can quickly apply store coupons as you shop.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The cart will initially be available at the Amazon grocery store in Woodland Hills, California in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When the cart is available, there will be a QR code in the Amazon app that will enable you to easily sign in and begin using the cart.
