{"id":41982,"date":"2013-07-15T14:12:55","date_gmt":"2013-07-15T12:12:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=41982"},"modified":"2013-07-16T10:01:36","modified_gmt":"2013-07-16T08:01:36","slug":"fnb-addresses-online-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/banking\/41982\/fnb-addresses-online-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"FNB addresses online issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First National Bank (<a title=\"FNB\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1730-FNB-First-National-Bank\">FNB<\/a>) says it is working on fixing several issues users have encountered with its revampled online banking channel.<\/p>\n<p>The bank went live with its revamped\u00a0website on\u00a0Sunday (14 July 2013), aimed at an improved user experience and a responsive design enabling scalability to multiple devices with layered, seamless security.<\/p>\n<p>However, on Monday (15 July),\u00a0online discussions surrounding the site were marred with complaints about glitches, technical faults and errors in data representation.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to the complaints about technical issues, FNB CEO of Online Banking <a title=\"Lee-Anne van Zyl\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/8415-Lee-Anne-van-Zyl\">Lee-Anne van Zyl<\/a> explained that issues came about due to an increase in customers logging in.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We did have intermittent issues this morning due to increased number of customers logging in and public interest in the new site,&#8221; Van Zyl said, but added that &#8220;our online banking services are now working normally.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Van Zyl explained that the new FNB site had, in fact, been running in tandem with the old site &#8220;for several months&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We considered using the old the site as a fall-back option, and we considered giving our customers the option of using either site. However, these options were unworkable and we completed a final migration and switch off of the old site on Sunday 14 July,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Running two banking sites in tandem proved to challenging from a resourcing viewpoint.
