TripAdvisor has published its traveller’s choice awards for 2020, detailing the best restaurants in the world in 2020.<\/p>\n

Winners are calculated based on the millions of reviews and opinions collected in 2019 from diners around the world.\u00a0 The awards take into account the quality and quantity of TripAdvisor reviews and ratings specific to each award category.<\/p>\n

The hallmark of winners continues to be remarkable service and quality experiences for travelers and diners, TripAdvisor said.<\/p>\n

The list was dominated by European restaurants, with the Auberge du Vieux Puits in France taking home the grand prize. Notably, La Colombe in Constantia, Cape Town also made it into the final list at 13th – the only African restaurant to do so.<\/p>\n

La Colombe has won both international and local awards for its dishes – most recently the 2019\u00a0Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

However, even the best restaurant in the country has not been able to dodge the impact of the coronavirus lockdown.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re having to rethink the way we do a few things to be able to offer the same standard of food and service. It\u2019s different for us, but hopefully still an exceptional experience for our guests!,” chef James Gaag told Eat Out<\/a><\/strong> at the start of July.<\/p>\n

“Everyone is made to feel very comfortable and safe and allowed to just enjoy the experience. The feedback we\u2019ve gotten is very positive and I think people are also just glad to be getting out and back to some sort of normality and allowed to enjoy the finer things again.”<\/p>\n
