{"id":428436,"date":"2020-08-25T10:32:46","date_gmt":"2020-08-25T08:32:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=428436"},"modified":"2020-08-25T10:32:46","modified_gmt":"2020-08-25T08:32:46","slug":"mtn-launches-new-area-specific-data-bundles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/telecommunications\/428436\/mtn-launches-new-area-specific-data-bundles\/","title":{"rendered":"MTN launches new area-specific data bundles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MTN is launching a new prepaid data campaign called MyTown Offers which will allow MTN customers to get specific data bundles based on where they live.<\/p>\n<p>Customers will need to dial *136*2# or *142# and select \u201cMyTown Offers\u201d to access special offers that are personalised based on their pockets and their hometown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt MTN we are committed to offering our customers increasingly personalised, and relevant, products and services,\u201d said Jacqui O\u2019Sullivan, Executive: Corporate Affairs, MTN South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe understand that everyone is different, with vastly different circumstances, particularly at this time, and we will continue to do our utmost best to cater to every single one of our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These offers are available in 85 suburbs and townships across South Africa, with a focus being placed on regions where budget-friendly data bundles will be \u201cparticularly welcomed\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of data bundles that will be offered include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>500MB for 1 day \u2013\u00a0<strong>R10<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1GB for 7 days \u2013\u00a0<strong>R19<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1.5GB for 7 days \u2013\u00a0<strong>R30<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>2GB for 7 days \u2013\u00a0<strong>R50<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThe aim with this product is not only to get \u2013 and keep \u2013 more people connected to family, friends, passions, entertainment, networking and job opportunities, it is also a way to address customer needs on a personal and community-level; ensuring that no one is left behind as we move towards an increasingly modern, connected life and burgeoning digital economy,\u201d said O\u2019Sullivan.<\/p>\n<p>MTN noted that its MyTown Offers are only available for prepaid customers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MTN announces new CEO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This follows after MTN recently\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/business-telecoms\/364316-mtn-appoints-ralph-mupita-as-ceo.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>appointed<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0Ralph Mupita as president and CEO of MTN Group, replacing incumbent Rob Shuter from 1 September 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Mupita was previously the chief financial officer of MTN Group and had held this position since April 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter a rigorous and extensive search process, we are pleased to have appointed someone of Ralph\u2019s calibre, experience and ability to fill the group president and CEO position,\u201d said MTN Group chairman Mcebisi Jonas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRalph\u2019s experience as the group CFO, strong knowledge of our businesses and markets, as well as successful background in financial services, M&amp;A and emerging markets, place him in an excellent position to lead the growth and sustainability of the business going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>This article first appeared on MyBroadband.
