{"id":437879,"date":"2020-10-04T18:17:02","date_gmt":"2020-10-04T16:17:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=437879"},"modified":"2020-10-04T18:30:33","modified_gmt":"2020-10-04T16:30:33","slug":"here-is-the-official-petrol-price-for-october-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/437879\/here-is-the-official-petrol-price-for-october-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Here is the official petrol price for October"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Energy has published the official fuel price changes for October 2020, showing a decrease <span class=\"aCOpRe\">across all grades next week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to the department, the following\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cefgroup.co.za\/phocadownload\/monthly_updates\/Press%20Release%2002%20Oct%202020%20Change%2007%20Oct%202020.pdf\">adjustments<\/a> will be made on Wednesday (7 October):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Petrol 95:<\/strong> 32 cents per litre decrease<\/li>\n<li><strong>Petrol 93<\/strong>: 23 cents per litre decrease<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diesel 0.05%<\/strong>: 90 cents per litre decrease<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diesel 0.005%:<\/strong> 93 cents per litre decrease<\/li>\n<li><strong>Illuminating paraffin:<\/strong> 76 cents per litre decrease<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The price changes come as both international petroleum prices decreased, and the rand strengthened against the dollar over the period under review.<\/p>\n<p>The average rand\/US dollar exchange rate for the period 28 August 2020 to 01 October 2020 was R16.72 compared to R17.28 during the previous period.<\/p>\n<p>This led to a lower contribution to the Basic Fuel Prices on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin by 17.93 c\/l, 16.42 c\/l and 14.75 c\/l respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The Automobile Association warned that despite the favourable conditions for fuel prices, the rand is particularly volatile and may point to future uncertainty around petrol prices in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is too early to tell whether the spikes in both (rand and international prices) were a blip or the start of a more sustained reversal, but motorists should continue to be wary given the ongoing instability in both local and global economies,&#8221;
