Obtaining and distributing information that is illegally obtained is a crime and offenders will be reported to legal authorities,&#8221; the department said.<\/p>\n<p>A department spokesperson confirmed to MyBroadband that a breach had occurred.\u00a0 This is the second major security incident involving a government minister in 2020.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Minister Ndabeni-Abrahams WhatsApp account HACKED!!!<\/p>\n<p>The WhatsApp account of Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has been hacked, resulting in private and confidential information being in the hands of a third party.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dpt of Communications &amp; Digital Technologies (@CommsZA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CommsZA\/status\/1313044473094508544?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 5, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In February, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymaverick.co.za\/article\/2020-02-27-phones-of-s-africas-state-security-minister-other-officials-found-to-be-cloned\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reuters <\/a><\/strong>reported that mobile phones belonging to South Africa&#8217;s state security minister Ayanda Dlodlo, her deputy and several officials from the State Security Agency (SSA) were found this week to have been cloned.<\/p>\n<p>Dlodlo&#8217;s spokesperson said the incident was being investigated by police.
