ITWeb has published the results of its latest IT Salary Survey, revealing that CIOs, COOs, enterprise architects and software architects are the highest paid IT professionals.<\/p>\n

The survey results, which are based on the salaries of 2,295 IT professionals in South Africa, showed a steady increase in IT salaries in the country over the last year. However, the 18 to 25 age group showed a slight decline.<\/p>\n

The survey further showed a direct correlation between the average salary of IT professionals and aspects such as experience, age, and qualifications.<\/p>\n

The following charts are based on the information within, and provide an overview of the results of the ITWeb IT salary survey released in July 2013.<\/p>\n

According to the survey data, 27.28% of respondents were aged 26-30 years old, while the second largest group were in the 31-35 year old bracket. The highest earning bracket (older than 51) made up the smallest amount – 4.23% of respondents.<\/p>\n

Companies with 3001-5000 employees and with more than 5000 employees shared an equal slice of the pie, with each grouping carrying 23% of respondents. The second largest sector – at 14% – is companies with 11-50 employees.<\/p>\n

The largest group of repondents (23.10%) have a tertiary diploma, while the second largest group (18.53%) had attained a professional certificate. Only 0.35% of the respondents had a PhD, the highest earning bracket.<\/p>\n

According to the survey data, enterprise architects, system architects and software architects all earn the highest, while chief operational officers and sales directors take the top spot in terms of strategic level at companies.<\/p>\n
