Vodacom Group<\/a> chairman, Peter Moyo<\/a> is one of the executives behind a new online venture in South Africa, Going.co.za, which sells assorted products at heavily discounted prices.<\/p>\n

South African born Paul Greenberg<\/a>, chief executive of the Australian National Online Retailers Association and founder of DealersDirect Group – Australia\u2019s largest online retailer – has partnered with black empowerment group Amabubesi Holdings<\/a> to launch the innovative Going.co.za.<\/p>\n

Moyo is a founding member and director of\u00a0Amabubesi Holdings, and has been appointed as executive director of\u00a0Going.co.za. \u00a0He is also chairman of the Audit Committee of the Auditor General\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

The new website provides a means of selling excess inventory, returned items, refurbished goods and other hard to sell products, featuring products such as electronics, stationery, clothing, toys, sports equipment and a variety of other categories.<\/p>\n

“Australia is now a mature market and Africa is being hungrily eyed by many players. We have been following the local online retail model for some time and there seems to be a three way investor war between Tiger Global Management<\/a>, Rocket Internet and MIH, which belongs to Naspers<\/a>,”\u00a0Greenberg said.<\/p>\n

He said he believes that a gap in the local market exists for a marketplace where retailers, wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers from South Africa, China and other supply hubs can manage their reverse supply-chain headaches.<\/p>\n

“Going is focusing on selling bulk lots of various sizes, allowing the likes of resellers such as retailers, both formal and informal, to acquire discounted trading stock at opportunistic prices.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

Greenberg said that improvements in African supply logistics allows for stock to be efficiently and safely delivered.<\/p>\n

According to the Going.co.za website, delivery on orders above R2,000 is free.\u00a0There is a standard delivery fee of R75 on orders below R2,000.<\/p>\n

“We deliver to all the main centre\u2019s in South Africa, namely: Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein. We deliver nationally in South Africa with a typical delivery time of 3-5 days in major centres and up to seven days in outlying areas,” the group said.<\/p>\n
