According to the 2011 Census released in October 2012,\u00a0Gauteng is the most populous province, with 12.3 million people, out of a total\u00a051.8 million people living in South Africa.<\/p>\n Pretoria’s population is put at just under 3 million (2011), yet it boasts more than 17% of the country’s internet users, with Cape Town at\u00a03.74 million (2011), also at just over 17%.<\/p>\n The DMMA\/Effective Measure report also showed that South Africa has a relatively old Internet population, with the majority of users being above the age of 30.<\/p>\n In July, research conducted by the\u00a0DMMA<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Echo Consultancy<\/a>\u00a0estimated the total internet population in South Africa in 2013 to be almost 14 million users.
