Toyota has launched its new Agya hatchback in South Africa, with the car set to shake-up the budget car market.<\/p>\n

The Agya has a three-cylinder, fuel-injected petrol engine which produces a maximum power of 49kW at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 89Nm at 4,400 rpm.<\/p>\n

The engine is mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or a self-shifting four-speed automatic transmission.<\/p>\n

The manual version of the Agya uses an average of just 4.8 litre\/100 km, and emits a corresponding 112g CO2\/km. It is capable of completing 0-100km\/h in 14.6 seconds and runs to a top speed of 165km\/h.<\/p>\n

The automatic variant consumes 4.9 l\/100 km with an emissions figure of 115g CO2\/km, and accelerates from standstill to 100km\/h in 16.3 seconds. It has a top speed of 145km\/h.<\/p>\n

An eco-indicator assists drivers in achieving fuel-efficient driving, Toyota said.<\/p>\n

Driven at the recommended speeds, the Agya\u2019s 33-litre fuel tank should yield a theoretical maximum range of around 687 km, as well as being able to perform a U-turn friendly turning circle of just 4.5 metres.<\/p>\n

The Agya features power steering and automatic air conditioning, while key trip information is conveyed to the driver via a multi-information display.<\/p>\n

Toyota said that all windows are electrically operated and an auxiliary 12-volt socket is on hand for charging additional mobile devices. The Agya also features a push start button and remote central locking.<\/p>\n

Other features include the fitment of driver and front passenger airbags, 14-inch alloy wheels and Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) equipped with Emergency Brake Force Distribution (EBD).<\/p>\n

The Agya\u2019s touchscreen multimedia unit features CD, Bluetooth, auxiliary and USB connectivity.<\/p>\n

An optional touchscreen audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android auto functionality will be available to customers as a dealer-fitted option.<\/p>\n

When connected via a USB cable, both of these interfaces display the screen of the smartphone on the infotainment screen and links the phone\u2019s audio output to the vehicle\u2019s two speakers \u2013 enabling navigation and audio streaming apps as well as enhanced telephony services.<\/p>\n

All models are prepared for the use of Toyota Connect, which provides Wi-Fi connectivity to smart devices as well as a host of connected online services; and 15 GB of complimentary data<\/p>\n

All Agya models are sold with a 2-services\/20,000 km service plan. A 3-year\/100,000 km warranty is also provided.<\/p>\n
