Unlike anything from Toyota, either.<\/p>\n \u201cIf Godzilla and a PlayStation got together to make a car, this would be it,\u201d Hagerty notes. It\u2019s one\u00a0of the few supercars Toyota has ever produced, and it can go more than 200 mph.<\/p>\n Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8<\/strong><\/p>\n Years to buy:\u00a0<\/strong>2006\u201310<\/p>\n Notes:\u00a0<\/strong>The square outline of the Grand Cherokee is a dead ringer for that one, weird time when Chrysler and Daimler worked together. It\u2019s a polarizing aesthetic. But if you hate it, go for the 6.1 liters of Hemi-powered V8 muscle under its hood: pure Americana.<\/p>\n This is the true \u201chot rod\u201d\u00a0Wagoneer<\/a>. It had a large (for Ferrari) cockpit, a surprisingly usable trunk, and a more-pleasant (read: not as hot) interior than its predecessor, the 512.<\/p>\n Pop\u00a0culture mavens and car enthusiasts alike consider it one of the most memorable vehicles of the 1980s.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Testarossa and the Jag have come down in value since 2017, and they\u2019re on the rebound,\u201d Rabold says. \u201cThey\u2019re quite cyclical,\u00a0so just like the 911 Turbo, it can go up in value\u00a0and then lose some of its heat, come down, and then all of a sudden it looks like an opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n Aston Martin Vantage<\/strong><\/p>\n Years to buy:<\/strong>\u00a02005\u201317<\/p>\n Notes:\u00a0<\/strong>The front-engine entry car to Aston Martin\u2019s 2005 portfolio came with a lightweight aluminum frame and memorably spirited\u00a0handling. Best of all, the Vantage was then aimed at the newly and near-rich, so it had a competitive base price set\u00a0just above that of a Porsche 911.<\/p>\n Hagerty reports that models with the 4.7-liter V8 engine will see the strongest growth.<\/p>\n Honda S600<\/strong><\/p>\n Years to buy:\u00a0<\/strong>1964\u201370<\/p>\n Notes:\u00a0<\/strong>The S600 was not exported to the U.S., so it\u2019s rare to find a S600 version in left-hand drive, but they are worth seeking out. Initially available as an inline-four\u00a0roadster and a coupe, it was the first car Honda ever produced and made available in two trim levels.<\/p>\n It wasn\u2019t fast (the 57\u00a0hp engine could maybe reach a top speed of 90 mph \u2026 downhill), but it was fun.\u00a0\u201cThe joy you\u2019ll receive in owning and driving one of these models is an automatic hedge against the financial risk inherent with any major expenditure,\u201d Rabold says.<\/p>\n Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia<\/strong><\/p>\n Years to buy:\u00a0<\/strong>1980\u201391<\/p>\n Notes:\u00a0<\/strong>The hipster darling\u00a0origin of the\u00a0Van Life movement\u2014along with\u00a0microvans\u00a0and the VW bus\u2014the classic Vanagon remains desirable in large part because of the \u201cromance\u201d of life on the open road, Hagerty says. (A pandemic doesn\u2019t hurt, either.)<\/p>\n VW\u2019s steadfast refusal to replace it with anything\u00a0nearly as practical, classic-looking, and inexpensive means that existing examples will continue to garner fans. \u201cIt gives you mobility and flexibility\u00a0and a lot of freedom,\u201d Rabold says. \u201cPlus, it comes in so many variants. You can customize it to be exactly what you want. The market for that is huge.\u201d<\/p>\n Ford GT<\/strong><\/p>\n Years to buy:<\/strong>\u00a02005\u201306<\/p>\n Notes:<\/strong>\u00a0The reason this one hits big is simple, Hagerty says. When Ford decide to make\u00a0a modern GT\u00a0that would reference the original GT40 from the 1960s, the resulting product was several things the first one wasn\u2019t: more comfortable, more user-friendly, and\u00a0best of all, serviceable at any Ford dealer.<\/p>\n It\u2019s a true supercar and a rare American-made one at that. \u201cThese are really special cars,\u201d Rabold says. \u201cFrom the time they were created everyone knew they were special.\u201d<\/p>\n Audi TT Quatro Coupe<\/strong><\/p>\n Years to buy:\u00a0<\/strong>2000\u201306<\/p>\n Notes:\u00a0<\/strong>A tiny pop culture toy from its birth, the Audi TT introduced car culture of its day\u00a0to several elements: wrap-around lamps, a low rear roofline, browed wheel arches, and a modern interior accented by metal\u2014all of which spawned copycats for the next decade.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s such a design hallmark;\u00a0it\u2019s really thoughtful in its packaging,\u201d Rabold says. \u201cAnd those cars are just cheap! You\u2019re going to have fun owning it\u2014and really, that is what it\u2019s all about.\u201d<\/p>\n Jaguar XK120<\/strong><\/p>\n Years to buy:\u00a0<\/strong>1948\u201354<\/p>\n Notes:\u00a0<\/strong>As Hagerty puts it, the XK 120 offers grace and pace, \u201ceven if it doesn\u2019t have much space.\u201d Launched in 1948, it is\u00a0the oldest car Hagerty has ever put on the annual Bull\u00a0List. More notable, it was fast: The Jag set the world record for fastest production car in 1949.<\/p>\n Recent years have seen it fall out of favor and\u00a0stereotypically viewed\u00a0as rather\u00a0d\u00e9class\u00e9, but that means prices have cooled\u2014which puts it in\u00a0reach of the younger collectors driving its renewed interest.<\/p>\n Honda CB750<\/strong><\/p>\n Year to buy:<\/strong>\u00a01969<\/p>\n Notes:\u00a0<\/strong>Here\u2019s a nod to the motorcycle lover in the family. Honda\u2019s light and reliable CB750 Four broke the hold European brands hitherto had on the motorbike market.
