{"id":45769,"date":"2013-09-11T17:29:49","date_gmt":"2013-09-11T15:29:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=45769"},"modified":"2013-09-11T17:31:02","modified_gmt":"2013-09-11T15:31:02","slug":"vodafone-short-of-acceptances-for-kabel-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/telecommunications\/45769\/vodafone-short-of-acceptances-for-kabel-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Vodafone short of acceptances for Kabel deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vodafone has secured close to 20% of shares in Kabel Deutschland, meaning it needs another 55% to be tendered on Wednesday (11 September) for its 7.7 billion-euro ($10.2 billion) offer for Germany&#8217;s largest cable company to succeed.<\/p>\n<p>Vodafone&#8217;s 84.50 euro per share offer for Kabel Deutschland runs out at midnight, but it will lapse if holders of less than three quarters of the German company&#8217;s shares agree to sell.<\/p>\n<p>The British company, which last week agreed the sale of its share in US operator Verizon Wireless for $130 billion, wants to buy Kabel Deutschland to offer more television and fixed-line services in Germany, its largest European mobile market.<\/p>\n<p>Including shares already tendered, Vodafone held 19.88% of Kabel Deutschland&#8217;s share capital by 1530 GMT (10.30 EDT) on September 10, Vodafone said in a statement on Wednesday.
