{"id":45855,"date":"2013-09-12T15:48:15","date_gmt":"2013-09-12T13:48:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=45855"},"modified":"2013-09-13T09:32:07","modified_gmt":"2013-09-13T07:32:07","slug":"sa-insurance-firm-partners-with-bharti-airtel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/banking\/45855\/sa-insurance-firm-partners-with-bharti-airtel\/","title":{"rendered":"SA insurance firm partners with Bharti Airtel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JSE-listed\u00a0insurance-based \ufb01nancial services company,\u00a0<a title=\"MMI Holdings\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/10092-MMI-Holdings\">MMI Holdings<\/a> has announced a strategic partnership between Metropolitan International and India based telecoms firm, <a title=\"Bharti Airtel\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1917-Airtel\">Bharti Airtel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Through this partnership, Metropolitan International is able to market and sell its products directly to Airtel\u2019s customers through its extensive telecommunications networks in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and Zambia.<\/p>\n<p>MMI was formed from the merger of Metropolitan and Momentum and\u00a0listed on the JSE in December 2010.<\/p>\n<p>The group announced during a presentation of its financial results for the year-end to 30 June 2013,\u00a0earlier this week (11 Sept 2013), that its\u00a0has set aside R500 million towards growth opportunities in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The group told BusinessTech that there are no similar deals in the works locally in SA, for now.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the partnership, <a title=\"Nicolaas Kruger\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/10093-Nicolaas-Kruger\">Nicolaas Kruger<\/a>, Group CEO of MMI, said: \u201cSuccess in Africa requires lateral thinking.
