{"id":459000,"date":"2021-01-08T17:00:41","date_gmt":"2021-01-08T15:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=459000"},"modified":"2021-01-08T17:01:02","modified_gmt":"2021-01-08T15:01:02","slug":"how-much-it-costs-to-drive-south-africas-most-popular-cars-after-the-latest-petrol-price-hike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/motoring\/459000\/how-much-it-costs-to-drive-south-africas-most-popular-cars-after-the-latest-petrol-price-hike\/","title":{"rendered":"How much it costs to drive South Africa\u2019s most popular cars after the latest petrol price hike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Africa saw a steep petrol price increase on Wednesday (6 January), just as the country gears up for the start of the new working year.<\/p>\n<p>All grades of fuel increased this month, with petrol climbing between 40 cents and 43 cents per litre, and diesel increasing by 54 and 55 cents per litre.<\/p>\n<p>The official changes are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Petrol 95<\/strong>: increase of 40 cents per litre;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Petrol 93<\/strong>: increase of 43 cents per litre;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diesel 0.05%<\/strong>: increase of 55 cents per litre;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diesel 0.005%<\/strong>: increase of 54 cents per litre;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Illuminating Paraffin<\/strong>: increase of 55 cents per litre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While it is impossible to accurately track exactly how much petrol you will consume due to factors such as traffic and road quality, it is possible to get a rough estimate of how exactly these petrol prices will impact you current petrol allowance based on manufacturer estimates.<\/p>\n<p>BusinessTech looked at how much it will now cost you to travel 100km on South Africa\u2019s roads right now the based on some of South Africa&#8217;s bestselling cars.<\/p>\n<p>All prices are estimates and are based on the manufacturer&#8217;s average fuel consumption per\/100km.
