Allied Technologies (Altech) and Chinese ICT firm, Huawei are extending their partnership by establishing a service and support-focused business unit for enterprise customers in Africa.<\/p>\n
The new entity will be branded as Altech Collab and will reside within Altech\u2019s New Business Development division, the companies said.<\/p>\n
The business is dedicated exclusively to the provision and ongoing support of IT solutions and services to its enterprise customers.<\/p>\n
In August 2012, Altech and Huawei entered into a long-term agreement to provide Huawei Enterprise products and services to customers across Africa.<\/p>\n
The agreement covers a number of countries including South Africa, Angola, Botswana, DR Congo, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n
In August 2013, Altech delisted from the JSE as the company was swallowed up by its parent company, Allied Electronics (Altron), in a R1.8 billion deal.<\/p>\n
Altech, along with its subsidiary Bytes Technology now for a part of Altron TMT (Telecommunications, Multimedia and Information Technology), a division within Altron.<\/p>\n
In morning trade on the JSE, Altron shares were down 45 cents, or 1.96%, to R22.50, giving the company a market capitalisation of R7.87 billion.<\/p>\n
