{"id":460398,"date":"2021-01-13T09:12:18","date_gmt":"2021-01-13T07:12:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=460398"},"modified":"2021-01-13T09:12:18","modified_gmt":"2021-01-13T07:12:18","slug":"7000-south-africans-arrested-for-not-wearing-masks-cele","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/460398\/7000-south-africans-arrested-for-not-wearing-masks-cele\/","title":{"rendered":"7,000 South Africans arrested for not wearing masks: Cele"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police minister Bheki Cele says that SAPS members have arrested more than 7,000 people for failing to wear masks under South Africa&#8217;s adjusted level 3 lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview on Tuesday, Cele said that since 27 December, when the new regulations were introduced, a total of 20,600 lockdown-related arrests have been made in total.<\/p>\n<p>He said that most of these arrests have been around the country&#8217;s current prohibition on the sale and transport of alcohol.
