{"id":462388,"date":"2021-01-20T15:22:11","date_gmt":"2021-01-20T13:22:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=462388"},"modified":"2021-01-20T15:22:11","modified_gmt":"2021-01-20T13:22:11","slug":"multichoice-is-offering-over-230-bursaries-to-students-in-south-africa-heres-how-to-apply","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/media\/462388\/multichoice-is-offering-over-230-bursaries-to-students-in-south-africa-heres-how-to-apply\/","title":{"rendered":"Multichoice is offering over 230 bursaries to students in South Africa &#8211; here&#8217;s how to apply"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MultiChoice South Africa has announced that 236 students will benefit from bursaries worth R26 million as part of its 2021 bursary programme.<\/p>\n<p>The media group said that these bursaries will pay for tertiary education for students in a number of fields including science, technology, engineering, maths, broadcasting and media<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe investing in these fields of study is critical for the future of our industry and our country,\u201d said MultiChoice South Africa\u2019s chief executive Nyiko Shiburi.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are excited to provide access to the necessary resources for these future leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs to thrive and flourish in fulfilling their highest potential.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MulltiChoice said that the bursaries will go beyond tuition fees to cover registration fees, accommodation, and a living allowance for the year.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must be South African, and registered at a recognised South African institution of higher learning for an undergraduate or post-graduate degree up to the Masters\u2019 level.<\/p>\n<p>They must also meet the academic performance requirements of a 65% or higher aggregate mark in their previous year of study.<\/p>\n<p>MultiChoice said students should apply if they meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You must be registered at a South African higher learning institute;<\/li>\n<li>Bursaries offered to students of all years of study (inclusive of 1st postgraduate degrees);<\/li>\n<li>You are studying towards any degree\/qualification aligned to MultiChoice focus areas;<\/li>\n<li>12-month bursary coverage for the 2021 academic year;<\/li>\n<li>Designated South African citizen;<\/li>\n<li>Eligibility and qualifying requirements must be met and no late applications will be considered;<\/li>\n<li>Complete application form and all supports documents sent to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:talentmanagement@multichoice.co.za\">talentmanagement@multichoice.co.za<\/a> by 31 January 2021.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The degrees or qualifications that MutliChoice will sponsor include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Engineering (Computer, Electrical&amp; Digital);<\/li>\n<li>Computer or Data Science;<\/li>\n<li>Applied\/Computational mathematics;<\/li>\n<li>Information Systems or Technology;<\/li>\n<li>Customer Insights technologies;<\/li>\n<li>Media, Film or Television Studies;<\/li>\n<li>Scriptwriting;<\/li>\n<li>Sport Broadcasting;<\/li>\n<li>UX or UI or CX Design;<\/li>\n<li>Creative or Corporate Brand Communication;<\/li>\n<li>Digital Marketing;<\/li>\n<li>Economics or Law;<\/li>\n<li>Human Resources;<\/li>\n<li>Finance (Internal Audit \/ Financial Accounting).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The bursaries will be awarded for the 2021 academic year only.
