Listed firm Poynting said on Wednesday (25 September) that it lifted its\u00a0net profit after tax by 36% for the year ended June 2013\u00a0to R9.84 million.<\/p>\n
Poynting designs, manufactures and supplies antennas and telecommunication products to the cellular, wireless data\u00a0and defence markets.<\/p>\n
Revenue for the year amounted to R93.74 million, from R80.97 million in 2012, with\u00a0an operating profit of R10.81 million, up from R8.47 million before.<\/p>\n
The group reported diluted headline earnings per share of 10.39 cents, from 8.04 cents before.<\/p>\n
Poynting said it is currently investing in the entry into the\u00a0cellular micro base station market and has established\u00a0the CCS division for this purpose.<\/p>\n
“The new business division was formed as a vehicle to\u00a0allow for the execution of the CEO growth plan which aims\u00a0to build Poynting into a group with revenue in excess of\u00a0R1 billion over a 3 to 5 year period,” the group said in a statement.<\/p>\n
“This growth will be\u00a0in the form of acquisitions of new businesses, including\u00a0strategic acquisitions to expand current business\u00a0divisions in terms of product and distribution and\u00a0investing into completely new business areas,” Poynting\u00a0said.<\/p>\n
The group said it envisages the\u00a0additional turnover to be achieved as follows:<\/p>\n
Looking ahead, Poynting said its\u00a0Defense\u00a0and Commercial Divisions should continue\u00a0strong growth in the future.<\/p>\n
The Commercial Division is supported by strong growth in\u00a0the cellular data field, Poynting said. “With the advent of 4G\/LTE\u00a0systems a number of Poynting products are now unique
\ninternationally and our competitive advantage is ensured\u00a0by numerous international patents, designs, trademarks\u00a0and know-how,” it said.<\/p>\n
The CCS Division, it said, should be supported by the requirement\u00a0internationally to significently increase base stations\u00a0to cope with growth in data traffic.<\/p>\n
