lockdown travel rules for South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has published new gazettes which update the country&#8217;s lockdown travel rules.<\/p>\n<p>The gazettes, which were published this weekend and take effect immediately, primarily deal with the country&#8217;s borders as well as travel regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The regulations state that the 20 land borders which were partially operational will be fully operational, and the 33 land borders which were closed will remain closed.<\/p>\n<p>Travelling to and from South Africa over these borders is now allowed, subject to certain restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>Daily commuters from neighbouring countries, including for school and teaching, are required to adhere to Covid-19 protocols, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Covid-19 screening and quarantine where necessary;<\/li>\n<li>The wearing of a face mask;<\/li>\n<li>Sanitisation and social distancing measures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>International travel\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>International travel is restricted to the following airports:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>OR Tambo International Airport:<\/li>\n<li>King Shaka International Airport;<\/li>\n<li>Cape Town International Airport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Long -haul flight departures and landings at the airports listed in paragraph are permitted during the hours of curfew.<\/p>\n<p>All international travellers arriving at the airports listed must provide a valid certificate of a negative Covid-19 test, recognised by the World Health Organisation.<\/p>\n<p>In the event of the traveller&#8217;s failure to submit a certificate as proof of a negative Covid-19 test, the traveller will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and in the event of a traveller testing positive for Covid-19, he or she will be required to isolate him or herself at his or her own cost, for a period of 10 days.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Travel.pdf\" width=\"100%\" height=\"600\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gatherings\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a separate gazette, Dlamini-Zuma also amended the lockdown regulations to include a ban on certain gatherings related to politics.<\/p>\n<p>This regulation adds traditional community meetings and political events to the list of banned gathering types.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Gatherings at politic events and traditional community meetings (<em>izimbizo<\/em>) are prohibited.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>These types of gatherings are now included under the \u201cspecific exclusions\u201d table in the regulations, along with all social gatherings, after-funeral gatherings, and night clubs.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Read: <a
