{"id":469736,"date":"2021-02-22T08:08:31","date_gmt":"2021-02-22T06:08:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=469736"},"modified":"2021-02-22T08:08:31","modified_gmt":"2021-02-22T06:08:31","slug":"where-to-get-your-2020-matric-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/469736\/where-to-get-your-2020-matric-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Where to get your 2020 matric results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Basic Education minister Angie Motshekga will announce the 2020 national examination results on Monday (22 February 2021).<\/p>\n<p>The Grade 12 cohort of 2020 faced a number of challenges in preparing for their matric exams, chief amongst these being the Covid-19 lockdown which drastically cut down on available teaching and learning time.<\/p>\n<p>Students also faced the possibility of having to re-write their maths and science papers after the exams leaked early, giving rise to security concerns.<\/p>\n<p>The matric examinations started on 5 November 2020 and the final papers were written on 15 December 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Marking of the 2020 matric exams started on 4 January 2021 and involved 45,000 matric exam markers, 216 question papers, and over 10 million scripts.<\/p>\n<p>Umalusi, the quality council for general and further education and training, approved the release of the matric results on 15 February 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Individual results will be available on Tuesday morning (23 February).<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to get your results<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Learners can access their results (or register to receive them) in the following ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Learners can obtain their results directly from the schools or learning facilities at which the exams were written. These results may only be available after 12h00 on the day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Learners can access their results directly by logging onto the\u00a0Department of Basic Education\u2019s website<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.education.gov.za\/MatricResults\/ExamResults\/tabid\/175\/Default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here.<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A number of online\u00a0news websites will publish the results \u2013 including\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/matricresults.news24.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News24\u2019s\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>Matric Results page<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Learners can receive their 2020 matric results by SMSing their exam number to 45856. The system will verify their exam number and provide them with their results. The price per SMS is R1.50 and free SMSes do not apply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Learners can receive their matric results by using the USSD code *120*45856# and entering their exam number to register. The learner\u2019s matric results will then be sent to their phone once they are available. The USSD service will be charged R1.50 per minute.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Download the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=za.co.kwins.matmate20&amp;hl=en_ZA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MatricsMate App<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for free from Google Play and Apple App Stores.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The 2020 matric results will be published in most of South Africa\u2019s major daily newspapers on 23 February 2021.
