{"id":47389,"date":"2013-10-09T12:14:23","date_gmt":"2013-10-09T10:14:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=47389"},"modified":"2013-10-09T12:19:19","modified_gmt":"2013-10-09T10:19:19","slug":"fight-against-e-tolls-now-up-to-people-of-gauteng-da","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/47389\/fight-against-e-tolls-now-up-to-people-of-gauteng-da\/","title":{"rendered":"Fight against e-tolls now up to people of Gauteng: DA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The fight against e-tolls is now in the hands of the people of Gauteng, the DA said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;E-tolling will kill jobs in Gauteng and make it harder for people to make ends meet,&#8221; Democratic Alliance spokesman Mmusi Maimane said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The power of the vote is the surest way to stop tolls.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He was responding to the Supreme Court of Appeal&#8217;s judgment on Wednesday dismissing the Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance&#8217;s (Outa) challenge to e-tolls.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Fritz Brand refused the appeal against the SA National Roads Agency Limited&#8217;s (Sanral) plans to introduce e-tolls. No costs order was made.<\/p>\n<p>However, Brand said the order granted by the High Court in Pretoria directing the appellants (Outa) to pay the respondents&#8217; (Sanral) costs was set aside and replaced by a ruling that there be no costs order.<\/p>\n<p>Outa chairman Wayne Duvenage said the alliance and its lawyers were studying Brand&#8217;s judgement.<\/p>\n<p>Maimane said it was not the end of the road for the fight against e-tolls.
