{"id":47520,"date":"2013-10-20T14:07:54","date_gmt":"2013-10-20T12:07:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=47520"},"modified":"2013-10-21T09:18:35","modified_gmt":"2013-10-21T07:18:35","slug":"bad-news-for-online-fraud-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/internet\/47520\/bad-news-for-online-fraud-victims\/","title":{"rendered":"Bad news for online fraud victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As many as 41% of users who have lost their money as the result of financial cyber-fraud have failed to get a single cent returned to them.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to the Kaspersky Consumer Security Risks Survey, a global study conducted by <a title=\"B2B International\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/10575-B2B-International\">B2B International<\/a> and <a title=\"Kaspersky Lab\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1883-Kaspersky-Lab\">Kaspersky Lab<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The survey shows that only 45% of users who suffered through online fraud were fully compensated.<\/p>\n<p>A further 14% recovered part of the stolen sum, but the remaining 41% of victims were left with nothing.<\/p>\n<p>According to the reports of 33% of victims, the money was most often irretrievable if it had been stolen during an e-payment operation. In 17% of cases, the money disappeared during e-banking sessions, 13% of the victims were the customers of online stores.<\/p>\n<p>Banks and online stores return money to their customers more often than, for example, e-pay systems.<\/p>\n<p>In general, only 12% of online customers received full compensation for losses incurred from malicious attacks, but for banking customers the figure climbs to 15%.<\/p>\n<p>One in ten respondents were lucky enough to get all their money back.
