what young South African workers plan to do"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Disruptive technologies, easy and immediate access to vast sources of information, and virtual interactive platforms mean that borders are becoming less important for young South African workers.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of the key findings in PwC&#8217;s new Workforce Preference Study which received 3,894 responses from individuals in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The report provides an overview of what young people are looking for from (future) employers in South Africa, with most of the respondents either working full-time or still in higher education.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Borders lost their relevance as free or easy movement in the world is a hygiene factor that is expected by younger people.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;International mobility programmes allow them to travel smoothly and virtually as technologies allow them to keep connected wherever they are.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, South African youth are interested in international opportunities, PwC said.<\/p>\n<p>The data shows that the preference for opportunities to spend time working abroad is also higher for those aged 30 and younger.<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Home-country.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-475474 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Home-country.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"530\" height=\"601\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Home-country.png 530w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Home-country-265x300.png 265w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 530px) 100vw, 530px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When asked about the preferred industries that they would like work in, the <strong>financial services industry<\/strong> elicited the highest level of interest from respondents.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;However, this may be attributable to the fact that a number of respondents are already working in this industry,&#8221; PwC said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A number of participants also showed interest in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IT;<\/li>\n<li>Technology;<\/li>\n<li>Digital;<\/li>\n<li>Retail;<\/li>\n<li>Media;<\/li>\n<li>Telecommunications;
