{"id":476858,"date":"2021-03-17T18:30:09","date_gmt":"2021-03-17T16:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=476858"},"modified":"2021-03-17T18:30:09","modified_gmt":"2021-03-17T16:30:09","slug":"eskom-pushes-load-shedding-to-stage-2-as-demand-spikes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/476858\/eskom-pushes-load-shedding-to-stage-2-as-demand-spikes\/","title":{"rendered":"Eskom pushes load shedding to stage 2 as demand spikes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After announcing extended load shedding at stage 1 until Saturday, Eskom has now escalated outages to stage 2 to safeguard the grid.<\/p>\n<p>Load shedding will now be at stage 2 from 21h00 on Wednesday night, continuing until 05h00 on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The escalation comes after the power utility lost more generating units at four power stations: Medupi, Arnot, Duvha and Kendal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In addition to Eskom&#8217;s inability to supply the full demand, we have seen an increase in demand, which has put further strain on the emergency generation reserves today,&#8221;
