{"id":47943,"date":"2013-10-21T12:02:54","date_gmt":"2013-10-21T10:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=47943"},"modified":"2013-10-21T13:11:28","modified_gmt":"2013-10-21T11:11:28","slug":"sars-reveals-9-6-rise-in-tax-revenue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/47943\/sars-reveals-9-6-rise-in-tax-revenue\/","title":{"rendered":"Sars reveals 9.6% rise in tax revenue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The SA Revenue Service (Sars) collected R813.8 billion in revenue last year.<\/p>\n<p>According to the 2013 Tax Statistics publication, tabled by Sars and National Treasury on Monday (21 October), this was R71.2 billion more than during the 2011\/12 fiscal year, indicating a 9.6% increase.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights from the document include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Personal Income Tax, including PAYE, totalled R276.7 billion (31.4% of revenue collected). A total of 15.4 million individuals were registered, of whom 5,881,019 were liable to submit returns;<\/li>\n<li>Company Income Tax collected during 2012\/13 amounted to R160.9 billion (26.7 percent of revenue).
