{"id":487145,"date":"2021-05-01T11:06:53","date_gmt":"2021-05-01T09:06:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=487145"},"modified":"2021-05-01T14:19:32","modified_gmt":"2021-05-01T12:19:32","slug":"here-is-the-official-petrol-price-for-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/487145\/here-is-the-official-petrol-price-for-may\/","title":{"rendered":"Here is the official petrol price for May"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Energy has published the latest fuel price adjustments for May 2021, showing a slight decrease for both petrol and diesel.<\/p>\n<p>The following changes will take effect from Wednesday, 5 May 2021:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Petrol 95<\/strong>:\u00a0 decrease of 9 cents per litre;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Petrol 93<\/strong>: decrease of 9 cents per litre;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diesel 0.05%:<\/strong>\u00a0 decrease of 31 cents per litre;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diesel 0.005%:<\/strong> decrease of 30 cents per litre;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Illuminating Paraffin:<\/strong> decrease of 23 cents\u00a0per litre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The movement in prices is typically affected by two main factors \u2013 international petroleum costs, and the movement in the rand\/dollar exchange rate.<\/p>\n<p>The average international product prices for petrol and illuminating paraffin increased whilst diesel decreased during the period under review, the department said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The rand appreciated against the US dollar during the period under review, on average, when compared to the previous period.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The average rand\/US dollar exchange rate for the period 31 March 2021 to 29 April 2021 was 14.4480 compared to 14.9829 during the previous period.
