Telkom<\/a> has announced new Internet speed upgrades for existing consumer and business customers following the recently announced ADSL speed increases for all internet service providers.<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0press release\u00a0issued\u00a0Thursday (31 October 2013),\u00a0Manelisa Mavuso<\/a>, MD of consumer services and retail at Telkom, said:\u00a0\u201cEffectively, we are doubling the entry level DSL speeds in the market. The increased speeds allow for improved video streaming, online gaming and video conferencing by reducing buffering and latency.\u201d<\/p>\n

Telkom said that these improvements are part of the company\u2019s network transformation programme and a more aggressive positioning of our retail ISP.<\/p>\n

The latest announcement follows the evolution of capped services to Softcap, promotions on social media, gaming and movie packages and differentiation of business and home usage products.<\/p>\n

\u201cTelkom Internet is revising its data usage offers, especially on its uncapped products, to be in-line with the improved DSL portfolio,\u201d Telkom said.<\/p>\n

Telkom Internet customers who are currently on the SoftCap package will benefit from a double speed upgrade at no extra cost.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe improved quality of experience does come with nominal fee adjustments, for uncapped users,\u201d the group said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDepending on the specific package, there will either be an increase or a decrease in your overall monthly fee,\u201d Mavuso said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere there is an increase, it is important to note that this is far less than the actual value that customers are getting at the end of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n

“For existing DSL customers, upgrades start from November 2013 until early 2014, while for business uncapped deals: “uncapped business internet is prioritised during office hours,” Telkom said.<\/p>\n
