Suspended Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) chief, Zwelinzima Vavi says that, not since 1994 has the country experienced such levels of unity across all classes in South Africa, as with the fight against e-tolls.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday (20 November) Transport Minister\u00a0Dipuo Peters<\/a>\u00a0announced that\u00a0e-tolls will commence on 3 December 2013 on Gauteng\u2019s highways.<\/p>\n In September, President\u00a0Jacob Zuma<\/a>\u00a0signed into law the Transport Laws and Related Matters Amendment Bill, giving\u00a0Sanral<\/a>\u00a0the nod to start e-tolling in the province.<\/p>\n Speaking in his capacity as a “South African citizen” to Talk Radio 702, Vavi \u00a0said:\u00a0“I think that they (government) are making a huge mistake, they are completely underestimating the popularity of the campaign against e-tolls.”<\/p>\n “This is the first ever blunder legislation, which they are now pushing down our throats, which is so unpopular.
