{"id":497731,"date":"2021-06-10T17:00:46","date_gmt":"2021-06-10T15:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=497731"},"modified":"2021-06-10T16:06:16","modified_gmt":"2021-06-10T14:06:16","slug":"these-are-the-most-in-demand-job-skills-in-south-africa-right-now-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/497731\/these-are-the-most-in-demand-job-skills-in-south-africa-right-now-18\/","title":{"rendered":"These are the most in-demand job skills in South Africa right now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Data from the latest CareerJunction jobs report shows that demand for labour increased by 5% while job search activity increased by 1% during May 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Year-on-year, demand has grown significantly for professionals in the sales, ICT, business &amp; management and building &amp; construction sectors, the careers portal said.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.careerjunction.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CareerJunction Index<\/a> (CJI) represents online labour dynamics in the country by providing a detailed analysis of the relative ratio of supply and demand in the online job market.<\/p>\n<p>It is based on the analysis of data gathered from the CareerJunction website \u2013 where around 3,000 of the country\u2019s top recruiters advertise their positions to millions of registered job seekers.<\/p>\n<p>The latest research shows that the following occupational fields are currently the most sought-after skill sets in the job market:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Software development<\/strong>: Demand for software developers has been growing since January. Comparing May 2021 with January 2021, demand increased by 38%.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Middle\/Department management<\/strong>: Department managers remain high in demand. Year-on-year, demand for middle and department managers increased by 76%.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Representative\/Sales consulting<\/strong>: Demand for sales representatives is showing consistent growth. Since May 2020, demand for sales consultants has grown by 69%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Trending jobs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CareerJunction said that the following trending jobs provide an indication of positions that have become more popular in the online job market and have seen a recent spike in demand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Business Analysis<\/strong><br \/>\nAverage salary offerings for an intermediate level position:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GP R45,694 to R56,104 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>WC R42,910 to R53,247 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>KZN Not available<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Representative \/ Sales Consulting<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GP R15,067 to R22,253\u00a0 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>WC R17,427 to R22,476 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>KZN R15,067 to R21,167 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Software Development<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GP R48,442 to R65,604 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>WC R45,012 to R56,685 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>KZN R42,755 to R55,882 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Supply and demand<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An overview of vacancy levels across various sectors provides a good indication of where the majority of employment takes place, the jobs specialist said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The IT, business &amp; management and finance sectors are undoubtedly the most sought-after sectors, followed by the sales, admin, office &amp; support and architecture &amp; engineering sectors, among others listed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When looking at active job seekers across various sectors, areas of high sup-ply correlate closely to areas of high demand, however supply outstrips demand in some areas, leading to a competitive environment for job seekers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/CareerJunction-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-497719\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/CareerJunction-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"528\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/CareerJunction-1.png 528w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/CareerJunction-1-198x300.png 198w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 528px) 100vw, 528px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Top employment sectors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Significant online demand indicates positive employment trends.
