{"id":49774,"date":"2013-11-20T15:08:57","date_gmt":"2013-11-20T13:08:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=49774"},"modified":"2013-11-20T15:10:53","modified_gmt":"2013-11-20T13:10:53","slug":"new-anti-e-toll-billboards-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/49774\/new-anti-e-toll-billboards-coming\/","title":{"rendered":"New anti-e-toll billboards coming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Democratic Alliance (DA) announced that the party\u2019s premier candidate for Gauteng, Mmusi Maimane, will unveil new anti-e-tolling billboards as well as a message for Gauteng voters.<\/p>\n<p>This comes after Transport Minister Dipuo Peters announced that e-tolls will commence on 3 December 2013 on Gauteng\u2019s highways.<\/p>\n<p>Peters also slated the DA for their previous anti-e-tolling billboard campaign, calling them cowards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[These are] people who don\u2019t have the decency to actually acknowledge what the ANC government has delivered in this country,\u201d she said at The New Age\u2019s business breakfast in Midrand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[They] want to focus on one aspect and turn an important infrastructure of the economic hub of South Africa\u2026into a gimmick.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The DA commissioned the billboards, visible along the N3 and N1 highways, which poke fun at the African National Congress and its role in the electronic tolling saga.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the DA submitted papers to the High Court. The party is of the view that the \u201ce-tolling\u201d Bill was incorrectly passed by Parliament and signed into law by President Jacob Zuma.
