Former Vodacom<\/a> CEO\u00a0Pieter Uys<\/a> has joined the board at Seacom<\/a> as a director.<\/p>\n

Uys joined up with investment holding company Remgro<\/a> in 2013, after his four year stint at the top of Vodacom’s management chain.<\/p>\n

Uys currently sits on Remgro’s management board, as part of the group’s strategic investment’s arm.<\/p>\n

Remgro has an effective interest of 25.0% in Seacom which launched the first undersea fibre-optic cable to connect Southern and Eastern Africa with Europe and Asia in July 2009.<\/p>\n

Remgro’s equity valuation in Seacom at 30 June 2013 was at R4.276 billion.<\/p>\n

Seacom CEO Mark Simpson<\/a> said the board of Seacom has welcomed the appointment of Uys as a director of the company.<\/p>\n
