{"id":49891,"date":"2013-11-22T07:28:47","date_gmt":"2013-11-22T05:28:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=49891"},"modified":"2013-11-22T07:29:37","modified_gmt":"2013-11-22T05:29:37","slug":"sony-playstation-4-sees-strong-demand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/hardware\/49891\/sony-playstation-4-sees-strong-demand\/","title":{"rendered":"Sony PlayStation 4 sees strong demand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Best Buy Co Inc has seen high demand for the Sony PS4 gaming console and at one New York City location it had sold out, the retailer&#8217;s chief executive said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Sony Corp&#8217;s new $399 PlayStation 4 console sold 1 million units in the first 24 hours after its November 15 release in the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will get new inventory next week,&#8221; Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly said in an interview ahead of the holiday season. &#8220;It&#8217;s a great launch, there is no doubt about that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft Corp&#8217;s competing Xbox One console goes on sale November 22 with a price tag of $499.<\/p>\n<p>The PlayStation 3 debuted in 2006 and Sony later unveiled a more powerful version of the same machine.
