{"id":504921,"date":"2021-07-09T15:35:28","date_gmt":"2021-07-09T13:35:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=504921"},"modified":"2021-07-09T15:35:28","modified_gmt":"2021-07-09T13:35:28","slug":"ramaphosa-to-meet-with-nccc-and-cabinet-on-sunday-for-lockdown-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/504921\/ramaphosa-to-meet-with-nccc-and-cabinet-on-sunday-for-lockdown-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Ramaphosa to meet with NCCC and cabinet on Sunday for lockdown review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC) will meet on Sunday (11 July 2021), to assess developments in the Covid-19 pandemic in the country and the national response to this challenge.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The council\u2019s deliberations come towards the end of a two-week period during which the country has implemented alert level 4 of the coronavirus national state of disaster,&#8221; the presidency said in a statement on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The council meeting will be followed by meetings of the President\u2019s Coordinating Council and Cabinet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC) will meet on Sunday, 11 July 2021, to assess developments in the COVID-19 pandemic in the country and the national response to this challenge. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CHe50OceTr\">https:\/\/t.co\/CHe50OceTr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Presidency | South Africa \ud83c\uddff\ud83c\udde6 (@PresidencyZA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PresidencyZA\/status\/1413461705577877504?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 9, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nPresident Cyril Ramaphosa moved South Africa to an adjusted level 4 lockdown on 27 June, introducing strict restrictions on gatherings, the sale of alcohol and a new evening curfew.<\/p>\n<p>Ramaphosa said that these restrictions would be reviewed in two weeks time to establish their effectiveness, with an update due on 11 July.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa reported 22,910 new cases of Covid-19 on Thursday (8 July), taking the total reported to 2,135,246.<\/p>\n<p>Deaths have reached 63,499, while recoveries have climbed to 1,862,900, leaving the country with a balance of 208,847 active cases.
