Dumo Mbethe joined Momentum Metropolitan in 2017 as a chief operating officer of Momentum Metropolitan Africa and Asia and soon progressed to become chief executive of Momentum Metropolitan Africa, the role he held prior to becoming the current CEO of Momentum Corporate.<\/p>\n

He joined the group from Old Mutual where he was general manager \u2013 Member Solutions in the corporate business and has 16 years of experience in the financial services industry, 10 of which have been at executive level during his tenure in Eswatini, Kenya, and South Africa.<\/p>\n

Mbethe has previously served on various country-level boards within Momentum Metropolitan Holdings Limited and is currently a non-executive director for the Metropolitan International Holdings and Metropolitan Internal Support Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

He is also a member of the Actuarial Governance Board, which oversees the professional conduct of actuaries in South Africa, and serves as a director for aYo \u2013 a joint venture between Momentum Metropolitan Holdings Limited and MTN.<\/p>\n

In this episode of Business Talk, Mbethe walks through new research from Momentum Corporate which highlights the need to rewire approaches when it comes to leadership, culture, the employee value proposition and employee benefits.<\/p>\n

Results show that employees\u2019 appetites for hybrid and work-from-home models are far greater than employers’. Mbethe explains what this means for leaders, and what they can do to bridge the disconnect leaders have with employees when it comes to perceptions around levels of engagement, particularly during a crisis like the current pandemic.<\/p>\n

He says there is also a growing need for a more holistic approach that addresses employees\u2019 physical, emotional, mental and short-term financial wellness needs.<\/p>\n

In its research, Momentum questioned what lessons leaders have learned through the Covid-19 crisis, what they believe are important drivers for future business success and employee well-being, and what challenges keep them awake at night. Mbethe explains these findings in greater depth.<\/p>\n
