Apple has revealed its top selling a free apps for iPhone and iPad in 2013, as well as the Apple team’s best picks.<\/p>\n
In Apple’s annual “Best of iTunes” list, the company lists the most downloaded digital content on iTunes, including apps, books, music and movies.<\/p>\n
Apple’s “editor’s choice” award for top iPhone app was revealed to be Duolingo<\/strong>, a language learning app – with free photo editing app, VSCO Cam<\/strong> and child vocabulary booster, Endless Alphabet<\/strong>, as runners-up.<\/p>\n Apple’s best iPad app was Disney’s $9.99 interactive film vault tour, Disney Animated<\/strong> – with music maker, Traktor DJ<\/strong>, and the WWF Together<\/strong> app as runners-up.<\/p>\n In terms of top sales and downloads, owners of Apple’s iDevices appear to favour the platforms for gaming, with a large portion of the top free and paid-for apps coming from that category.<\/p>\n The indie PC game that took the world by storm, Minecraft, had another successful year on the iOS platform, topping the list on both iPad and iPhone for paid apps – while the highly addictive Candy Crush Saga accomplished the same for free apps.<\/p>\n In terms of other content on iTunes, Justin Timberlake’s The 20\/20 Experience was the top-selling album (followed by Beyonce’s new album), while Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” was the top-selling song.<\/p>\n The latest James Bond film, Skyfall was the top-selling movie on iTunes, with Breaking Bad the top-downloaded TV show, and Dan Brown’s Inferno the top-selling book.<\/p>\n iTunes gift codes on FNB\u2019s banking app<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Apple brings games to SA iTunes<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Musica bullish despite iTunes arrival<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n What iTunes means for SA\u2019s brick and mortar<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\nTop paid apps in 2013<\/h3>\n
