Business for South Africa (B4SA) has announced that all private sector vaccination sites across South Africa now accept walk-ins for anyone eligible for vaccination – regardless of whether they are insured or uninsured.<\/p>\n
B4SA is responsible for coordinating the private sector\u2019s work with the government to roll out the national vaccination programme.<\/p>\n
The group said that sites will now accept anyone for vaccination who has an ID, passport or other forms of identification, regardless of their nationality.<\/p>\n
These sites include independent community pharmacies and corporate pharmacy chains, such as Dis-Chem and Clicks, private hospitals and medical scheme vaccination sites.<\/p>\n
B4SA also confirmed that while sites will prioritise those with scheduled appointments and those over the age of 60, no person above the age of 35 is required to pre-register before visiting a site for a vaccination.<\/p>\n
Private sites are ensuring that staff are equipped and ready to assist people in registering once they arrive.<\/p>\n
However, to save time and prevent a long wait in queues, the public is encouraged to pre-register on the EVDS<\/a><\/strong> before visiting a site for vaccination, it said.<\/p>\n “We have been concerned that people believe that only those with medical aid can visit private sector sites, and this is not correct,” said Stavros Nicolaou, chair of the health workgroup for B4SA.<\/p>\n “All sites will deliver the same service, for free, to anyone who needs a vaccine. We encourage all citizens above the age of 35, whether registered or not, insured or not, to visit a vaccine site closest to them to receive their life-saving vaccination.”<\/p>\n President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that vaccinations for those over 18 will open on 1 September 2021, and this free service will be available to them.<\/p>\n \u201cOf course, it helps the vaccination sites tremendously when people pre-register on the EVDS and use the appointment schedulers that are available to book their slot.
