The South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) has addressed a security flaw on the E-toll website that could potentially give hackers access to the personal details of registered users.<\/p>\n
This is according to Sanral\u2019s general manager of communications, Vusi Mona.<\/p>\n
\u201cSanral strongly condemns the cyber-attack on the online e-toll account management website,\u201d Mona said. \u201cOur technicians worked flat out yesterday to resolve this security issue and an intervention has been successfully deployed to ensure that login details for online account management is secure.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sanral\u2019s statement comes after an unofficial security advisory was posted by a hacker identifying themselves as \u201cMoe1\u201d.<\/p>\n
It warned E-toll users that the PINs used to log into their E-toll website accounts could be easily obtained if their username is known.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome people may not like e-tolls but launching an attack on law abiding citizens, just because they registered an e-toll account, is appalling,\u201d Mona said.<\/p>\n
Mona said that Sanral will be looking at the legal options available to it.<\/p>\n
\u201cSanral would like to assure road users that it will continue to look at innovative measures to ensure the protection of road user data,\u201d Mona said.<\/p>\n
