{"id":518524,"date":"2021-09-04T15:33:54","date_gmt":"2021-09-04T13:33:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=518524"},"modified":"2021-09-04T15:33:54","modified_gmt":"2021-09-04T13:33:54","slug":"south-africa-sets-rule-to-lower-sulfur-in-diesel-fuel-by-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/518524\/south-africa-sets-rule-to-lower-sulfur-in-diesel-fuel-by-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"South Africa sets rule to lower sulfur in diesel fuel by 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Africa published regulations that lower the sulfur content allowed in the country\u2019s diesel fuel, which may force some oil refineries to upgrade in order to meet the standards.<\/p>\n<p>Diesel grades allowed for sale may not exceed 10 parts per million, or ppm, according to a government notice on petroleum product regulations dated Aug. 31.<\/p>\n<p>The rules will come into effect in September 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Climate-change regulations are prompting a shift away from traditional fuels.
