{"id":521644,"date":"2021-09-15T17:24:48","date_gmt":"2021-09-15T15:24:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=521644"},"modified":"2021-09-15T17:24:48","modified_gmt":"2021-09-15T15:24:48","slug":"these-are-the-most-in-demand-job-skills-in-south-africa-right-now-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/521644\/these-are-the-most-in-demand-job-skills-in-south-africa-right-now-20\/","title":{"rendered":"These are the most in-demand job skills in South Africa right now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In August,\u00a0demand for labour increased slightly while job search activity remained at the same level as in July, new data from job search specialists CareerJunction shows.<\/p>\n<p>The group\u2019s index (CJI) settled at 102 index points, indicating a small increase in job opportunities and therefore slightly less competition in the jobseeker space.<\/p>\n<p>The CJI represents online labour dynamics in the country by providing a detailed analysis of the relative ratio of supply and demand in the online job market.<\/p>\n<p>It is based on the analysis of data gathered from the CareerJunction website \u2013 where around 3,000 of the country\u2019s top recruiters advertise their positions to millions of registered job seekers.<\/p>\n<p>The latest research shows that the following occupational fields are currently the most sought-after skill sets in the job market:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Software Development<\/strong>: Software engineers and developers are facing great employment prospects in the local job market. Year on year, demand for software development skills increased by 18%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Middle \/Department Management: <\/strong>Managerial skills remain highly demanded. Since January, hiring activity for middle and department managers has increased by 10%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Representative\/Sales Consulting: <\/strong>Despite a decline in recruitment activity for sales consultants and sales representatives over the last two months, sales skills remain highly demanded. Year on year, demand for sales consultants increased by 15%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Trending jobs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CareerJunction said that the following trending jobs indicate positions that have become more popular in the online job market and have seen a recent spike in demand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nursing \/ Professional Care Giving<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Average salary offerings for an intermediate level position:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GP: R22,699 to R43,616 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>WC: R17,624 to R34,459 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>KZN: R22,463 to R34,407 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Business Development<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Average salary offerings for an intermediate level position:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GP: R41,731 to R54,793 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>WC: R28,298 to R41,955 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>KZN: R30,181 to R44,583 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Data Analysis\/Data Warehousing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Average salary offerings for an intermediate position:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GP: R45,109 to R58,308 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>WC R41,360 to R59,925 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>KZN No information available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Supply and demand<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An overview of vacancy levels across various sectors provides a good indication of where the majority of employment takes place.<\/p>\n<p>According to CareerJunction, the IT, business &amp; management and finance sectors are undoubtedly the most sought-after sectors, followed by the sales, admin, office &amp; support and architecture &amp; engineering sectors, among others listed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When looking at active job seekers across various sectors, areas of high supply correlate closely to areas of high demand, however supply outstrips demand in some areas, leading to a competitive environment for job seekers,&#8221; support, building &amp; construction, medical &amp; health, warehousing &amp; logistics, manufacturing &amp; assembly and sales sectors,&#8221; CareerJunction said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A stabilising trend in recruitment activity is evident for professionals in the ICT, finance, business &amp;
