{"id":525676,"date":"2021-10-04T17:28:02","date_gmt":"2021-10-04T15:28:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=525676"},"modified":"2021-10-04T17:35:30","modified_gmt":"2021-10-04T15:35:30","slug":"here-is-the-official-petrol-price-for-october-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/525676\/here-is-the-official-petrol-price-for-october-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Here is the official petrol price for October"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Energy has published the official fuel price adjustments for October, showing a minimal petrol prices decrease for motorists at the pumps.<\/p>\n<p>Mid-month fuel price data showed a possible decrease in fuel prices; however, the key factors in determining costs reversed their beneficial positions over the last two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Oil prices moved higher over the course of September, and jumped again on Monday following OPEC+\u2019s decision to maintain a gradual supply hike, Bloomberg reported.<\/p>\n<p>OPEC+ ministers ratified the 400,000 barrel-a-day supply hike scheduled for November, according to a statement from the group. The decision comes as the world\u2019s biggest oil company, Saudi Aramco, said the global natural-gas shortage has boosted demand for crude by 500,000 barrels a day.<\/p>\n<p>Vitol Group said that OPEC+ production policy will be the main factor influencing oil prices over the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>Brent Crude has climbed above $81 per barrel, while Goldman Sachs sees Brent at $90 a barrel by year-end.<\/p>\n<p>The rand continued to weaken gradually over the course of last month but has managed to stay below R15:00 against the dollar in recent sessions.<\/p>\n<p>According to the department, fuel prices will change as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Petrol 95:<\/strong> decrease of 1 cents per litre;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Petrol 93:<\/strong> decrease of 4 cents per litre;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diesel 0.05%:<\/strong> increase of 22.8 cents per litre;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diesel 0.005%:<\/strong> increase of 22.8 cents per litre;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Illuminating Paraffin:<\/strong> increase 43 cents per litre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The new prices come into effect on Wednesday, 6 October.<\/p>\n<p>Movement in prices is typically affected by two main factors \u2013 international petroleum costs, and the movement in the rand\/dollar exchange rate.<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Petrol-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-526292 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Petrol-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1078\" height=\"722\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Petrol-1.png 1078w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Petrol-1-300x201.png 300w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Petrol-1-1024x686.png 1024w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Petrol-1-768x514.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1078px) 100vw, 1078px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The average international product prices for Petrol, Diesel and Illuminating Paraffin increased during the period under review, the department said. &#8220;The rand appreciated against the US Dollar during the period under review, on average, when compared to the previous period.<\/p>\n<p>It said that the average rand\/US dollar exchange rate for the period 27 August 2021 to 30 September 2021 was R14.56 compared to R14.77 during the previous period.
